This artwork features a beautifully worn vintage Rugby League Football. Manufactured by Ross Faulkner, (better known for their Australian Rules footballs).

Dry Area denotes a section in the famous Sherrin Stand at Victoria Park Collingwood in which, (like other VFL grounds at the time), the consumption of alcohol by patrons was prohibited. This severely worn Australian football is reminiscent of those kicked around by kids in the '70's. Back then a brand new proper footy wasn't really on the agenda. For most a second-hand well worn footy like this was the best you could hope for. The lifespan of these footies was epic - they seemed to last an entire childhood; being kicked, marked & handballed for years on end. Such was their use that the manufacturer's logo & associated markings would be worn off, the ball's bladder would have undergone at least one replacement & the lacing would eventually start to undo & fray. This card pays homage to all those marvellous footballs kicked in backyards right across the country in the 1970's.
